Description
This is the rocky shoreline of the island of Hawaii's eastern Puna coastline. It is the eastern most location in the United States. The rocks have been smoothen down after many years of the pounding of the ocean waves. The black rocks you see in the photo are black lava rock from a volcanic eruption in 1960 that flowed down and over a small Hawaiian sugar plantation town known as Kapoho ...and then into the Pacific ocean.
