Great pattern shot. Looks backlit.

It's the afternoon sunlight showing thru the ferns in the forest. Just another beautiful day here ;)

Thank you Sandi for featuring my work!

Artist's Description

Hapu'u is native to most of the Hawaiian islands. It is one of more than 800 species of tree ferns, descendants of prehistoric vegetation found worldwide in semi-wet to wet forests from sea level to over 5000 ft elevation.
This is the hapu'u that grows in the rain forest at about the 4,000 ft. elevation here in our back yard along with the Red Ohia Lehua trees. The sunlight is shining through the back of the hapu'u creating a natural lighting affect to my photograph or the hapu'u silhouette.

Lehua Pekelo-Stearns

As a photographer and a Hawaiian woman I try to convey through my photography the love for my Hawai’i with an understanding of the traditional Hawaiian value, that all natural resources of our environment, the ocean "kai", the land "aina", and the sky "lani", are interrelated and culturally significant to Hawaii and its people. “What I like about photographs is that they capture a moment that’s gone forever, impossible to reproduce.” In my photography I try to capture the moments of my life I want to remember. It’s usually something that caught my eye and captured...
